Rudolf and Jakob Alt created a "View of Innsbruck", signed and dated "J. Alt 1834", for the so-called "Guckkasten series" commissioned by Emperor Ferdinand I (1793-1875). The sheet can be found in the Austrian National Library, Picture Archives and Graphic Collection, inv. no. Pk 502, 28 (GK 243). The present watercolour can probably also be dated to the 1830s and may have been signed and dated later.
