Antiques

Historical weapons, including matchlock, wheel lock and flintlock firearms manufactured before 1871, are generally subject to the Austrian Weapons Act. Buyers from the EU must therefore provide proof of prior approval from their country of residence. A licence must be applied for prior to export in accordance with Section 37(1) of the Austrian Weapons Act. For shipments to a third country, an export licence from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs is also required. This obligation rests with the buyer. Failure to obtain a licence does not constitute grounds for withdrawal from the purchase.

It is not possible to post firearms; specialist courier services exist for this purpose. Furthermore, the mail-order sale of firearms and ammunition to end customers is prohibited under the Austrian Trade Regulation Act. We can arrange for the shipment/transport of auctioned firearms at the buyer’s expense upon request.

We evaluate and describe the weapons to the best of our ability, but without the use of technical aids. The condition of the weapons has been externally assessed. We have not tested their technical operability, firing capability or accuracy, and prospective buyers may not request such testing as part of the description. The weapons are sold as collector's items in the condition described; therefore, we cannot accept any liability or provide any warranty for their functionality, operational reliability or accuracy. For precautionary reasons, customers should assume that the weapons on offer are not in working order.

CITES

We cannot guarantee that items containing parts of protected species may be exported from Austria or imported into other countries. We offer an export licence application service for a processing fee of €150 per lot, upon request.
