Embedded in the extensive gardens, the painting shows Villa Taussig, built in 1894, at Gloriettegasse 47, 49 in Vienna's 13th district. The villa was demolished in 1931, and today only the coach house and the porter's lodge remain. (cf.: Roman Sandgruber, Reich sein. Das mondäne Wien um 1900, Vienna/Graz 2022, p. 165 (ill.))
