probably from the estate of Emperor Franz Josef, Vienna, late 19th century
stoneware, glazed; gilded silver mounting; inscribed "ANDENKEN/AN KAISER FRANZ JOSEF/AUS DEM NACHLASSE/VON DEN HÖCHSTEN ERBEN" inside of the lid; marked in various places on the silver mounting with a Diana head hallmark and maker's mark "CH" for Carl Haas, active from 1893 (see: Neuwirth, Wiener Gold- und Silberschmiede und ihre Punzen, I, p. 225)
