Literature
Alice Strobl, Gustav Klimt, Die Zeichnungen 1912-1918, vol. III, Salzburg 1984, no. 2868, ill. p. 185 (there with the note "Privatbesitz, Wien")
Our drawing was purchased directly from Erich and Elisabeth Lederer by the legal predecessor of the present owner in the period between 1960 and 1984. Alice Strobl therefore pointed out in her catalogue raisonné in 1984 that the artwork is "Privatbesitz, Wien" (private property, Vienna), which means that it is no longer the property of Erich Lederer. Nevertheless, our work of art is listed in the Lost Art database (ID 579677) as having been unlawfully seized from the Lederers. We are convinced that this registration is based on assumptions in which recent provenance research has not been taken into account.
