The entire Figdor collection has been sold
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Friends of Our House,
It has been approximately twelve months since the owners of the Figdor Collection – which we have offered under the title “Greetings from the Biedermeier” – approached us. Their family has owned a truly exceptional collection of visiting cards, greeting cards, and almanacs for many decades. Ideally, they would have liked to keep the collection together and preserve it, however, due to family circumstances, this was no longer possible. Therefore, they decided to sell the entire collection at auction. Since all the cards originated from Austria, they chose to work with us.
We dedicated ourselves to this task with great care: we thoroughly examined and analyzed every card, photographed them, compiled an auction catalogue, and prepared everything for the auction scheduled for May 20th.
Shortly after the catalogue was sent out, a well-known collector approached us with the wish to acquire the entire collection – if possible, even before the auction. He assured us that he would keep the collection together for as long as he lives.
This aligned perfectly with the original intention of the owners, and so they accepted the collector’s offer. We at the auction house im Kinsky did not wish to stand in the way of this agreement and therefore consented to the private sale of the collection, meaning that the auction we had prepared will no longer take place.
The auction of the Hassfurther Collection Part II, scheduled for May 21st, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., will proceed as planned.
