Impressionist & Modern Art – Contemporary Art

The first auction in the new year 2019 offers for the third time a wide-ranging selection of high-quality works at moderate prices.
IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN ART and CONTEMPORARY ART constitute the chronological parameters of the offerings, while paintings, graphics, and sculptures define the content.

Kitzbühel in Winter, 1925
Oil tempera on paper on cardboard
44.5 x 58 cm

The leading artist of this auction is once again Alfons Walde, with a delightful view of the town of Kitzbühel in silhouette, covered in a splendid white blanket of snow! Since the world record set at the December auction at im Kinsky, the Graz-born painter Norbertine Bresslern-Roth has been catapulted into the top league of Austrian artists.

In February, collectors can select from an enticing array of no fewer than four remarkable works by this artist depicting the animal world in a refreshingly direct and authentic manner. Other small works by Alfons Walde, Leo Putz, Artur Nikodem as well as Greta Freist and Josef Floch offer a multifaceted presentation of Austrian and International Modernism.

Contemporary Art

The area of Contemporary Art features an attractive New Year’s selection of works by Markus Prachensky from the 1980s, followed by such artists as Hermann Nitsch, Daniel Spoerri, Günter Brus, Gerwald Rockenschaub, and Martin Schnur. Karl Prantl is again represented by one of his inimitable stone sculptures, this time a dark-green serpentine, while Hans Bischoffshausen offers a study in the art of reduction in radiant white.
