Sacchetti began his artistic training in Venice under Domenico Fossati (1705–1785) before moving to Vienna in 1794, where he worked as a decorator at both court theatres until 1810 and had a decisive influence on the stage designs of the time. After 1817, Sacchetti continued his career in Prague, where he worked as a stage painter, theatre architect and lithographer. In 1830, he published the treatise ‘Faßlicher Unterricht in den Anfangsgründen der Theater-Mahlerei’ (Comprehensible Instruction in the Fundamentals of Theatre Painting) in German and Italian.
